The Plaque of Appreciation to Be Awarded by the World Health Organization to Mashhad University of Medical Sciences

 Head of the Department of Nursing of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated that following the successful organization of the workshop of “Education of Hand Hygiene Educators”, the Department of Treatment of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences has succeeded in obtaining a plaque of appreciation from the World Health Organization.

In this regard, in an interview with WEBDA, Ezati stated that the workshop of “Education of Hand Hygiene Educators” was held in Akbar hospital of Mashhad from October 31 to November 2 with the effort of the Department of Treatment of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences by Professor Didier Pittet, Director of the Department of Patient Safety of the World Health Organization, and the accompanying team.

He added that this workshop, initially held in the EMRO region, was held in Mashhad for the third time, and following the successful organization of this course, the Department of Treatment of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences succeeded in obtaining a plaque of appreciation from the World Health Organization.

Head of the Department of Nursing of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated that this workshop was attended by 30 of the most experienced nurses and physicians responsible for controlling patients’ infection and safety in the hospitals of the country. After participation in the exam, participants obtained a certificate of attendance from the World Health Organization.

Ezati pointed out that these people must hold coaching courses for the qualified personnel across the country so that the personnel can implement the received training in a clustered manner in all hospitals of the country.

It is worth mentioning that hospital infections, which bear a lot of cost every year, can be reduced by 50 percent only with the observance of hand hygiene in medical environments.
