Mashhad Hosts the Congress on Children's Epilepsy

 

 

 The National Congress on Children's Epilepsy, hosted by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, was held on November 22-23.

 

In an interview with WEBDA, the secretary of the Congress on Children's Epilepsy stated that during the call for articles, 70 papers were submitted to the secretariat of the congress on children's neurology, neurosurgery, adults’ neurology, and pediatric psychology. 45 of these articles were presented orally in the form of panels in the congress.

 

About the Epilepsy Congress held in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Akhoundian stated that the in the pediatric neurology discipline, established 30 years ago, different subspecialists are working across the country.

 

He added that this congress, held in Shahid Chamran Hall of Ghaem (AJ) Hospital on November 22-23, was attended by 150 professors of pediatric neurology from across the country, professors of the Department of Pediatrics, pediatric specialists and residents of the Great Khorasan, and nurses and students of medical universities of the country.

 

The secretary of the congress stated that they are attempting to hold seminars in this congress on children neurology as well as epilepsy and seizure so that they can make use of the latest experiences in this discipline through scientific consultation and interaction.

 

Pointing to the topics of the congress, he stated that epilepsy and seizure, classification of epilepsy treatment, behavioral problems in children’s epilepsy, resistant epilepsies, surgery in epilepsy, neonatal and infantile seizures, stable and uncontrollable seizures, imaging in children’s epilepsy, and fever and seizure, which are very common in children, are the main topics of the congress.

 

At the end of the congress, the secretary of the congress considered the position of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences as a great one in the area of pediatrics and added that the Department of Pediatrics of Mashhad has 50 faculty members who are experts in pediatric neurology, pediatric rheumatology, pediatric glands, pediatric ICU, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric immunology, neonatal infection, and pediatric cardiology.
