Chemotherapy Unit
Chemotherapy ward of Dr. Sheikh children hospital directed by Dr. Banihashem acts to chemotherapy of confined cancerous patients in the ward and those who continue the therapy as outpatients.

This ward has 12 approved beds which can respond to 18-20 patients daily. In this ward Personnel are 2 formal nurses and a nurse's aid. Patients with leukemia (AML, ALL) and with diagnosis of NHL, H.D, Uwing's sarcoma, Wilms' tumor, retinoblastoma, histiocytosis, rhabdomyosarcoma, neuroblastoma and … who are under chemotherapy refer to this ward. Chemotherapy drugs in the manner of direct IV such as vincristine, vinblastine, citarabin, actinomycin and some in the manner of infusion such as cisplatin, cyclophosphamide, Adriamycin, Methotrexate, and some in the manner of muscular such as asparagines and some drugs such as methotrexate, citarabin, in the manner of intratecal are injected by physicians.
In this ward IT and BMA is also done by respected assistants for 6-8 patients daily. Blood transfusion, injection of coagolative factor for hemophilia, infusion IVIG and transfusion of platelet and crayo-precipitate are also done.
For promoting patients awareness and their fellows, training pamphlets and different posters have been provided. There are different kinds of toys and a play station for entertainment of children during chemotherapy and drug injection.
