Research Interests:
Research interests include the isolation, characterization and biological evaluation of natural products of higher plant origin, particularly on extracts, fractions and compounds with antileishmanial, cytotoxic, immunomodulatory and antioxidant effects.
Current projects are involved the activity-guided purification of immunomodulary compounds from native Iranian plants.
The extraction and purification of Lycopene from tomato paste and Crocetin from saffron are also performed routinely. Collaborations with clinical scientists to study the antioxidant activity of these chemicals in various disorders such as atherosclerosis and cancer prevention are underway.
Our Lab could support any projects in which large quantities of Lycopene (active ingredient of tomato) or Crocetin (active ingredient of saffron) are required.
