Head of Neuroscience Department at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Professor Ali Gorji said that stem cells from 15 brain patient were taken out. “This important operation was carried out at the department,” WEBDA reported.
“Research associated with culturing brain’s stem cells and their application in nervous system diseases is a unique action in Iran and the world accomplished in Neuroscience Department at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.”
The use of stem cells in various organs such as heart and skin has largely advanced. “However, due to the ban on culturing brain’s stem cells in other nations, adopting these cells to treat brain diseases has not been greatly successful.”
“Brain’s stem cells are highly efficient in treating diseases caused by nervous system inflammation like epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer, and headaches.”
Stating that Mashhad University of Medical Sciences has been introduced as the base of Neuroscience development in Iran, Prof. Gorji added that this was followed by establishment of Neuroscience Department at the university.
Neuroscience is a scientific and strategic branch in the world as it explores new methods to treat neurological diseases and as it plays a key role in promoting public health, according to the researcher.
International Nervous System Inflammation Conference attended by domestic and foreign scientists was hosted by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
